The beauty of Mayonnaise

Although Mayonnaise is laden with calories and will not make you body beautiful if you eat too much it is great for the beauty of the skin and hair (when applied externally).
Mayonnaise contains oil, egg yolks and vinegar and is therefore rich in vitamin K and vitamin E.

Vitamin K is more of a skin vitamin
• helps reduce swelling from bruises
• helps to heal skin
• helps to strengthen skin
• helps to minimise scars

Vitamin E is good for the skin and hair
• Good for healthy scalp and hair
• helps hair growth
• It is a great moisturiser for dry, patchy skin

Applied as a conditioner after shampooing hair it gives the hair softness and shine

Apply it on the face as a mask to make the skin softer and more beautiful.

A bottle of mayonnaise certainly is a powerhouse of many beauty benefits. I will be experimenting with my own recipes including it in the future so watch this space!

Baking with the Betty Crocker Chocolate Chunk Muffin mix

For the past week and a half I have been itching to bake something but I have been too lazy to go buy all the ingredients and get messy in the kitchen. Baking for me like writing and painting and all the other creative things I do has been my therapy. Anything that is created in the kitchen out of love is beautiful to me. I like to make beautiful dishes from scratch but sometimes the effort is too much especially during the school holidays, so I went shopping and bought some Betty Crocker Chocolate chunk muffin mix.

It was so easy to use, I just added water, egg and oil in a bowl along with the mix and mixed all the ingredients together.

The mixture blends together beautifully, smooth as silk with pieces of white chocolate giving it that extra texture that is sure to melt in your mouth when you take that first bite.
It was easy to spoon into the muffin cases and there was not that much left on the bowl afterwards.

I baked the muffins in the oven as per the instructions on the box, preheated at 200 Degrees Celcius for around 20 minutes.  I feel the muffins turned out looking yummy if not a little rustic.  Well at least I tried and practice makes perfect as they say.

DISCLAIMER: I have not been sponsored to write this post by Betty Crocker (although I wish I was!) I  love baking and I bought this product with my own money.  All the words and opinions are my own.

Slumber

When you awaken from deep slumber
with eyes half shut,
life is still a dream.
How beautiful is that moment
before you open your eyes
and see reality.

Garden ideas for the Summer

Last Summer I went a little crazy and painted the shed purple and it looks beautiful. I love sitting in the garden in the summer and always try to find ways of making it more beautiful and more colourful.

I was searching Pinterest today as you do when you want some inspiration and found some unique ideas.

This is such a unique idea and I love the shape of the tree.

I love the way these plants are placed in log. It is so pretty and artistic.

Porridge with a desi twist

If you are bored with your morning porridge why not add a few Indian flavours to liven it up a bit? It is very simple really.
You will need:
1 sachet of Quaker Oats
Milk
Chopped Pistachios
A few Raisins
A pinch of Green Cardamon powder.

Microwave the Oats with milk as per the instructions on the packet. Add the Pistachios, Raisins and Green Cardamon powder when the porridge has cooled a little. Stir and enjoy:)
